This year we became the proud owners of a puppy named Ollie. Fortunately he is yet to destroy anything around the house.
Something that I always find really interesting about dogs is their ability to feel shame. When Ollie is naughty, he knows it. When he has done “something” in a spot he shouldn’t, he knows he is in trouble. I walk him over to the spot and ask him if he made this mess and he responds by avoiding eye contract and trying to hide.
I read this verse and the single sentence hit me hard – it’s so true. I’m just grateful that with our Father there is not yelling and screaming when I make a mess. There’s no need for shame, running or hiding – just grace.
