Find Your Map
I consider being lost one of the worst feelings in the world. I can still remember being frightened and disoriented as a child when I went exploring the surrounding bush around my home. After walking for a few hours I got to a point where I felt completely disorientated and had no clue about which direction I should take to go back! Thankfully these days if I ever feel lost, I refer to the GPS in the car or load my iPad or iPhone and simply type in the address and find the right direction.
When traveling as a child with my family, I distinctly remember my dad and mum unfolding giant maps in the front seat of the car or using street directories to come up with a route to get us to where we needed to go. The reassurance that a map gives you is that somebody has actually been to the place and has created a map for you. A map cannot be created unless somebody first explores that area and reports back on what they have found. A map is useful to give you directions and work out how to get from one point of a city to another, and the same analogy also applies to other areas of our lives.
If you are feeling disorientated about where you are, or you are not sure how to get from point A to point B, then you need to look for someone who has a map. That map means that that person has traveled that path before and can guide you through. It is far easier to look to someone else for support and guidance than it is to travel the distance on your own. Especially when you know that, that task has already been done and experienced by someone else. So in all difficult areas or unconquered territories in your life, find your map.
