Open The Flood Gates

Earlier this year we did some concreting around our home and removed a section of paving and lawn, and replaced it with concrete that is covered by an outdoor living area. Although there is a drain in the middle, one morning I noticed that my nice concrete living area had suddenly become a small Olympic sized swimming pool. It didn’t take long to determine that the drain grate had become blocked with leaves and other litter and was restricting the water from draining away. A quick burst of home handyman skills and I had the drain unblocked and the water disappeared at a very fast rate straight down the drain and off my concrete.

As a child I grew up in an area outside of the city that had a lot of creeks and drains around our property.  During times of high rain we would see small waterfalls created down embankments and we would dam them up to build pools, until the dam broke allowing a torrent of water to burst through.

These two situations made me realize how much of our life can get blocked up by sticks, leaves and other litter. Suddenly removing that blockage causes a great surge of water, new ideas, fresh direction or vision to come surging through from where it was held.

If you are feeling a bit stagnant, the passion is gone, or the ideas and vision has stopped flowing, then find out what litter is causing that blockage and restricting the flow. Perhaps it’s something that you need to remove or a discipline you need to add in your life. Whatever it might be you will see considerable growth in your business and in every area of your life by making that change.
